Boracol® liquids and Impel® Boron Rods, your ultimate solution for protecting wood against decay.
Boracol® is a high-performance wood preservative designed to eliminate and prevent mold, fungus, and insect infestations.
It is widely trusted by professionals and homeowners alike.
Two formats, one trusted chemistry. Boracol® penetrates as a liquid; Impel®Rods diffuse from within a drilled hole. Both establish a long-lasting borate reserve in the timber — the most effective and least toxic way to protect wood against fungi, insects, and decay.
Formulated for log homes, structural timber, and building materials where dual-action fungicidal, insecticidal, and preventative mouldicidal protection is required.
Special Properties
Dual-active formula — combines 19.6% DOT (borate) for long-term deep penetration with 1.0% DDAC for immediate surface kill of mould and fungi
Fungicidal as both a preventive treatment and an eradicant — effective against dry rot, wet rot, white rot, and mould on wood and stone
Added preventative mouldicidal effect — broader spectrum than single-active preservatives
Propylene glycol carrier — extends dwell time in timber for enhanced penetration depth; Very low vapour pressure — negligible loss of active ingredient by evaporation
Non-flammable with elevated flashpoint (above 107°C); Practically odourless and non-staining
Wider spectrum of activity than conventional preservatives.
Formulated for general purpose timber preservation, mould prevention, and marine applications. Mouldicidal, fungicidal, and insecticidal — highly effective in killing and preventing mould on wood, stone, and other absorbent surfaces.
Special Properties
Highest DDAC concentration (2.0%) of the Boracol line — provides immediate, broad-spectrum surface kill of mould, fungi, and bacteria
Effective on wood, stone, and other absorbent surfaces — not just timber
Very low vapour pressure — negligible loss of active ingredient by evaporation
Deep penetration into timber; even penetrates heartwood
Functions partly as a corrosion inhibitor — does not attack glass, textiles, plaster, rubber, mastics, or paint systems
Non-flammable with high flashpoint (above 150°C); Practically odourless and non-staining; Wood impregnated with Boracol® can be glued
Formulated for preventive treatment and fungicidal eradication of dry rot, wet rot, and white rot in timber. Pure borate formula — no secondary biocide.
Special Properties
Highest pure borate concentration (20% DOT) of the Boracol line — maximum penetrating power with no secondary biocide
Pure propylene glycol carrier — no water dilution, enabling deeper penetration into dry and dense timber
Penetrates 3–5mm on initial application; 40mm penetration in 2 years has been demonstrated
Lower hazard classification than dual-active (-BD) variants — no DDAC
Non-flammable; Non-irritating to skin and eyes
Wider spectrum of activity than conventional preservatives; Contains a corrosion inhibitor — does not cause corrosion to metal fasteners
Impel® (Boron) Rods are solid borate wood preservative rods formulated for the pre-treatment and remedial protection of non-food contact wood and wood products against fungal decay and wood-boring insects. The rods are inserted into drilled holes in timber and work by diffusing into the surrounding wood when moisture is present — establishing a protective borate zone that prevents and arrests decay. Note: Impel Rods are not effective against termites. For use only in lumber with a permanent or periodical moisture content above the fibre saturation point (30%), such as window frames, bottom sill members, and logs.
Special Properties
Solid diffusion technology — Active ingredient diffuses through moisture into surrounding timber — no liquidapplication required
Targeted remedial treatment — Precisely placed at positions most susceptible to decay: end grain, joints, sillmembers, and window frames
High-purity borate formula — 98% Anhydrous Disodium Octaborate — maximum active ingredient concentration perrod
Compatible with surface coatings — Once rods are dissolved and wood is dry, painting or any other surface coatingmay be applied over treated timber
Inspection-friendly installation — Holes covered with plastic or wood plug caps — rods can be inspected andreplaced without structural damage
Non-flammable solid format — Safer handling and storage than liquid preservatives — no spill risk during application; Very low mammalian toxicity profile — Borate chemistry — same active ingredient family as the Boracol liquidpreservative line
